Compass raise more than £1,000 for Stop Domestic Abuse
Compass Holding Group held a socially-distanced Charity Day on Friday 30th October to raise money and awareness for Stop Domestic Abuse – a local charity based in Havant, Portsmouth, aiming to provide support, counselling and safety for people who are suffering from different types of abuse within their homes.
Owing to Lockdown, there has been a marked increase in domestic violence cases – with BBC News citing a ten-fold increase in visitors to the domestic abuse website during a two week period in May 2020, demonstrating the need for the charities services now more than ever.
Throughout the week, employees from all Compass brands – Compass Associates, Compass Executives, Compass Corporate Services and Compass Life Sciences – took part in a lunchtime Quiz, with the winners getting additional raffle tickets for the prize draw on Friday.
The Compass bakers returned with an outstanding display of home baking – and competition was once again fierce for the coveted Bake Off Champion Rolling Pin. A big congratulations to Matt Sheppard – Principal Consultant from the Compass Associates Care Home team – for his winning salmon stack! Honourable mention to Compass Life Sciences Senior Consultant, Ben Brown for being runner-up with his fantastic sausage rolls!
Head of Compass Holding Group Charity Committee, Jodie Kemp, commented:
“Last week we ran our first ever socially distanced charity event, with interactive games each day, a phenomenal Bake Off and finishing off with a Raffle where top prizes included a half days holiday and vouchers!
We smashed all previous charity days records raising a whopping £1,084 for a local Charity, Stop Domestic Abuse. This year has been hard for many people in so many ways, and I could not be prouder of everyone’s efforts here at Compass HQ to help others and donate their time effort and money for such a worthy cause.
It was a great week, culminating in a great day on Friday, and I’m glad we could raise both awareness and money for a local charity – thank you everyone!”
